Mail Account Setup

Settings

Your Name: John Smith

E-mail Address: john@domainname.co.nz 
User Name: john@domainname.co.nz 
Password: [enter password]
Remember Password: checked 
Incoming Mail Server (POP3): mail.domainname.co.nz 
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.domainname.co.nz
Outgoing port: 25 (alternatively you can use port 26 if you are unable to send using port 25).  Some ISP's block port 25.

If you intend to use a secure connection, the settings are as follows:

Outgoing Mail Server: (SSL) epic.rhgateway.com

Outgoing port: 465

Microsoft Outlook (2003) Setup

After your email account has been setup, you can configure your mail client to send and receive emails for your new email account.  This example is for Microsoft Outlook 2003 however whether you're Microsoft Express or a later version of Outlook, you should still be able to follow this example.

Step 1: Open Microsoft Outlook

Step 2: Open Account Settings

Go into email account settings through the menu:  Tools | Email Accounts

Select: Add a new e-mail account, then press Next > Select POP3 then press Next >

Put in account information. For example:

Your Name: John Smith
E-mail Address: john@domainname.co.nz 
User Name: john@domainname.co.nz 
Password: [enter password]
Remember Password: checked 
Incoming Mail Server (POP3): mail.domainname.co.nz 
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): mail.domainname.co.nz

Press Next.

Press Finish> to save the settings

Set the Outgoing Server Port

From step 2 above, choose "View or Change existing email accounts" then press the More Settings… button

  1. Click in the Advanced tab
  2. Change the value of the Outgoing Server (SMTP) to 26
  3. Press OK to save the setting.

Accessing email account through a Web Browser

Enter the following into the address bar of your web browser:

Web Mail URL: http://domainname.co.nz/webmail
Secure Web Mail URL: https:// domainname.co.nz /webmail

Use your email address and passwords as above to authenticate.   The temporary password has been sent to the email address you entered upon setup.

After you have your Outlook set up as per the instructions above, we recommend that you change the password by logging into your account thorough the Web Mail interface then by using the Change Password facility. After the password has been successfully changed, update the Outlook settings with the new password.
