Customer Life-Cycle

As the optical industry is specialised and unlike any other, it necessarily follows that your website should also be specialised.

Webz is developing specialised components for the optical industry that will enhance customers’ online experience.  For instance, off-the-shelf eCommerce packages do not capture prescriptions, base curves, diameters, etc. - Webz does.

When developing specialised components, it is key to understand the ‘online customer life-cycle’. For an optometry practice, the life-cycle can be described as follows:

  • Often a potential customer will search the internet, most likely using Google, to find an optometrist near their work or home;
  • The online customer will look at the highest ranking sites and will usually view the Home page and the next most commonly viewed page: About Us;
  • An online customer may visit other high ranking websites until they find one that captures their needs: is visually appealing, easy to use and informative;
  • After finding a suitable optometrist, the online customer will want to book an appointment for a refraction. At a minimum your site should collect the customer’s name and contact details.  Preferably it should allow them to select an appointment date and time;
  • After an appointment is confirmed you can make it easy for the customer to locate your practice by providing a map or driving directions;
  • After sales service is essential to retain customer loyalty and a good website can assist to provide services like an online shop to re-order contact lenses or solutions. If your website can store your customer’s last order and delivery details, it will encourage the customer to return to your website;
  • After a period of time a reminder email may be sent to your customer inviting them to make another appointment.  This email can contain a link to your appointment booking page so that repeat business is ensured, building customer loyalty to your practice.

Does your website manage the customer life-cycle to ensure customer loyalty?

Webz can develop your website to enhance your customer’s online experience based on the customer life-cycle, and we can deliver the functionality that will distinguish your website above the rest.

We encourage franchise owners to think about economies of scale. Franchise practices can have a similar “look-and-feel” yet still maintain their individuality. Webz offers special pricing to those who wish to develop/upgrade their websites as a group.
